Configuring Eudora
Eudora will need to be configured as follows.
Select Settings... from the menu Special in Eudora.
The first thing to setup is the Getting Started section.

- Replace <user_name> with your login name at Nectar, and <your_name> with you real name.
- Make sure that Connection Method is set correctly, this will usually be MacTCP.
The next step is setting up Personal Information.

- Replace the 3 occurrences of <user_name> with your login name at Nectar, and remember to put @nectar.com.au after it for Return address:.
- And replace <your_name> with you real name.
Hosts is the next section setup.

- Replace <user_name> with your login name at Nectar, followed by @nectar.com.au
- Set SMTP: to mail.nectar.com.au
Checking Mail comes next.

- Replace <user_name> with your login name at Nectar, followed by @nectar.com.au
- You can select Check for mail every [X] minutes, a reasonable time might be 30 minutes, or use the short cut apple-m to check your mail. The short cut will still work if you have a check time set.
Eudora will not automatically check for mail when you connect if check time is not set.
- Select Leave mail on server ONLY if you are going to read the mail from more than one computer or from your shell account as well.
- Selecting Save password will save you password between times Eudora is open. Eudora will remember your password while it is still open wether you select this or not.
- Authentication Style: should be set to Passwords.
Sending Mail is setup next.

- Replace <user_name> with your login name at Nectar, followed by @nectar.com.au
- Set SMTP Server to mail.nectar.com.au
- Selecting Keep copies of outgoing mail is a good idea, but the rest are optional and should be self explanatory.
The last section you need to setup is Attachments.
Though the other section are worth looking at the preferences for in case you wish to make any changes.

- The best Encoding Method is BinHex as more people should be able to decode it.
- If not set Attachments Folder defaults to a folder within the Eudora folder in the System folder.
- You might wish to change TEXT files belong to: to your favourite text editing program.
Remember to hit the OK button when you finish the settings or they will not be saved.
Eudora should now be setup correctly.
Eudora is available on this site in the directory '/pub/mac/email'.
